Just recently a 28-year-old woman went to her second session for buttock augmentation at the Cuerpos Health & Aesthetic Clinic in Miami, Florida. A Venezuelan doctor, who did not introduce himself by name, injected an oily yellow material in a plastic syringe after no previous tests, only one week after her first treatment. She became dizzy, was rushed to the Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables, and died there of a lung embolism. The clinic had a permit to operate as a massage salon only. (See full article here)
In California, a 22-year-old woman also recently died of respiratory distress after a silicone injection in the buttocks. The clinic was owned by two women, one claiming to be a physician in Mexico. Both jumped bail after they were taken into custody for illegal practice.
Deadly silicone injections are becoming a common story, with illegal procedures done by unlicensed people injecting large amounts of what is most likely industrial silicone instead of medical grade material. Neither of them is safe or legal to inject. At best, the body creates scar tissue around the material and isolates it but it can still cause repeated episodes of painful inflammations, and sometimes silicone can enter into the bloodstream, clot inside the lungs, and create a deadly pulmonary embolism.
The Myth of a Quick Fix
The myth of a quick fix at a low price can have terrible consequences. Cutting corners when it comes to your body and your health is a risky business in an area that already implies a degree of risk. Without properly investigating the physician, you may be delivering yourself into a future of disfigurement, pain, years of undoing unnecessary damages, or as in the case of many, death.
The Importance of Board Certification
Board certification is awarded to physicians for a reason. It is the ultimate assurance that a medical practitioner has been extensively and properly trained to perform a myriad of protocols with minimum risk. It is a rating that provides potential clients with the necessary confidence to proceed with a given procedure.
Applying Knowledge and Care
At Bayshore Cosmetic Surgery, we believe that you should be completely confident in the abilities of your doctor before entering into any procedure. With thousands of procedures under his belt, Dr. Bernabe Vazquez has earned his reputation as one of the leading Board Certified plastic surgeons, implementing his vast background of knowledge and applying extreme care to each individual case.
A Thorough Understanding of Complex Techniques
Your body and face are precious. Plastic surgery is a specialty that requires intense study and practice, with a minimum of five years of surgical training after medical school including plastic surgery residency program. As an expert in body and facial procedures, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon is trained in complex techniques and understands all aspects of body function.
Judgment and Wisdom
A Board Certified cosmetic surgeon receives impeccable training in order to prevent and handle any emergency that may emerge. Using skill and judgment that has been finely tuned through education and practice, along with a deep sense of aesthetic awareness, a Board Certified plastic surgeon uses judgment and wisdom that is honed through intensive experience for the best and safest result.
